The influence of technical standards and associated regulations for steel and reinforced concrete on the development of modern architecture in pre-WW1 Paris and Brussels. Example: La Samaritaine Magasin 2 store built in Paris from 1905-10 by Frantz Jourdain, French architect, using an Art Nouveau decorative style with visible steel framing both inside and out. The building has been renovated and will reopen in 2021 subject to COVID-19. Images credited to La Samaritaine Archives.
