Michal Zapletal

Stage 3, BA (Hons) Architecture

Centred around bread-making, the Canterbury Collective Bakery engages the elderly community with social groups such as school children. The spaces combine educational grain fields with germination labs, raised bed allotments contained in a public open space, a farm store, or a foot spa next to a sourdough vault. All nested in a village like proposal building upon the architectural grain of Canterbury, the scheme rises next to the city wall, just like the bread in a bakery.
