Stage 5, MArch
Recycled Textile Market & Hub
As an answer to the 'U.N. Sustainable Development Goal 12', this project concentrates on the over-consumption of textile and proposes a route of circular economy to address the problem.
The project located in East London, contains market spaces which sell second hand clothing, an industry where unsellable clothing will get shredded and upcycled, a textile school which works with the industry and services such as tailors, stylists and rental stores.
As the programme of the project contains vast amount of textile, this has been included in the architecture by adding a tensile membrane structure over the market made out of recycled plastic which would not only protect the clothing from rain but also create colourful interiors.
