The Interactome

The Interactome is a communal living scheme and educational showcase acting as a closed biological system; it is self-sustaining and forms part of the daily exchanges of its inhabitants. The system will be fuelled by three particular invasive species found in Islington, reconceptualising the use of invasive species as a resource. Japanese knotweed provides fuel for the energy-generating microbial fuel cells, duckweed produces potable water, while algae offers oxygen internally.
