Bertan Kotil

Stage 3, BA (Hons) Architecture

A Community Centre for the Canterbury community. Three different levels of space make up the proposal. The first is the ground floor and open space area, where people will gather and enjoy Canterbury's stunning natural surroundings, play games and sit and chat or enjoy the freshest foods produces locally from the edible garden and the roundabout greenhouses in the cafe.

The building itself, which includes a reading and studying area, an arts centre, a computer facility, and a meeting room, which covers 1145m² in total will be on the second floor. Finally, the roof park will become the city's new gathering place for the people of Canterbury, connecting the new proposed bus station with a green bridge which gives the sense of a new green city upon arrival. Whilst designing this proposal, the main goal was to maximise the number of different events happening in the same time at three different levels in a single location.
