Stage 3, BA (Hons) Architecture
As part of a wider urban masterplan, the proposed works to Margate’s Theatre Royal were aimed at addressing two key issues: accessibility and communication.
The illuminated ‘billboard style’ extensions visually inform the public, whilst also forming a new accessible entrance. Internally, circulation routes were simplified and additional passenger lifts were introduced, providing a smoother transition between spaces.
These bold alterations create a contrasting facade, that unifies its new and historic fabric as a whole.
